OUR STORY
SHEFFIELD - A CITY ENRICHED WITH FOOTBALL HISTORY
Sheffield has historical roots within football, so it was only natural for a bunch of Sheffileders to start KickAbout.Me
As many of you may already know, Sheffield is acknowledged as the founder of the modern game.
1855 -
1860 -
Starting in 1855, a bunch of cricketers from the Sheffield Cricket Club began to have a casual kickabout. The kickabouts became so popular they formed dedicated football teams.
On boxing day in 1860, two Sheffield football teams played each other in what is considered the first inter-club game. 3 years later, Sheffield Club had an instrumental role in the English Football Association (FA).
Kickabouts are part of our history, and we want to keep them in our future.
2020 -
2023 -
Lockdown 2020, Paul is dreaming of the next opportunity to play football. Thinking back on the tedious process of organising the games. He concludes there must be a better way. With his skills in software development, the opportunity to create a bespoke platform dedicated to organising games can’t escape him. The restrictions founded opportunity.
Football has a long history. So we have written a very brief version.
